Heart Foundation adds sugar into its Tick Criteria (again)

In October, the Heart Foundation announced that sugar criteria will be reintroduced to relevant Tick food categories starting with breakfast cereals and nut and seed bars.

What does this mean for the Tick?

Last year, the Tick programme celebrated the introduction of Two Ticks. Two Ticks signposts core foods for a healthy diet and includes sugar criteria for relevant categories, such as breakfast cereals and yoghurts.

Tick approved products in the breakfast cereal and nut and seed bar categories now must also adhere to guidelines for sugar as well as energy, saturated fat, trans fat and sodium to earn the Tick logo.
